What is the state of the roads and the distance between the localities?
The roads are chopped, some sections are provided with a lot of sand, holes, ravines and shrubs being used by popular on bicycles or motorcycles, requiring vehicles with 4x4 traction for the transportation of personnel and cargo.
The distance between the localities is as follows :
Luena-Chicala: 36 km, Chicala-Chiva: 33 km, Chiva-Muangai: 17 km, Muangai-Samba: 5 km, Samba-Sachombi: 29 km, Sachombi-Savisesa: 34 km, Savisesa-Sarosa: 3 km (vehicle photo), Sarosa-Samaianda: 31 km (presence of many ravines and sand), Samaianda-Sacangenha: 33 km (presence of many ravines and sand) Sacangenha-nascente do Luio: 3 km (photo of the Luio river spring), Sacangenha-Cangamba: 63 km.
Lungue-Bungo River
The crossing of vehicles on the Lungue-Bungo river in the Chicala-Chiva is not possible at the moment due to the degraded state of the bridge with approximately 80m-long and constructed by locally cut timber, requiring rehab to allow cargo vehicles and passengers to use it again. In the place existed a metallic bridge mounted by the military services but it is damaged.
Air bridge to access the concession
The village of Cangamba has an aerodrome that is far-away from Luanda city at 856km linear. Cangamba is located 63km from Sacangenha, which is the village located within the concession Lacage on the left bank of the source of the river Luio. The bite between Cangamba and Sacangenha requires intervention and rehabilitation of several bridges over the streams that cut the said bite. Therefore, an evaluation of the construction of an airfield for small airplanes and helicopters that will make possible an air bridge between Luanda-Sacangenha (838km linear) or Luena-Sacangenha (143km linear) is under way.
Logistics and Infrastructure
The Lacage concession presents significant geographical challenges that Somileste is transforming into opportunities for regional development. Currently, operations face adverse conditions on access roads and long distances between strategic locations, which requires a robust and multifaceted logistics strategy.
The New Muangai – Sacangenha Route
To optimize the flow of equipment and supplies, we are assessing and planning the opening of a new 70 km route connecting Muangai to Sacangenha (see map source, blue line).
Asset Mobilization: As a decisive step, we will proceed with the transport and relocation of our CAT D6R Bulldozer to Moxico province.
Engineering Logistics: This operation includes a dedicated logistics chain to ensure that the heavy machinery has the necessary support for the opening and regularization of this vital section, drastically reducing the current transit time.
